Meet the staff and trainers at Ride the Sky Stables! Read our client and student testimonials here.
Andi was a Massachusetts licensed riding instructor, teaching at barns around New England. Before leaving she was the head trainer of her own program out of a large barn in New Hampshire. After having too much of the cold, Andi moved that program south before creating Ride the Sky Stables.
Training is Andi's passion in life and she caters to each students (horses and humans) needs making each lesson unique and fun for the rider and their equine partner. Andi focuses her training in Eventing (english) and Barrel Racing (western). She is a natural horsewoman and finds relaxation in starting young horses and working with problem horses. Her goal with any horse is to keep them happy, healthy and fun for as long as possible through correct work and finding out what the horse enjoys to do.
Andi is a licensed and insured riding instructor with over a decade of experience in the equine world. She has learned a great deal and continues to learn every day through her own training in riding and coaching. This is the knowledge she cannot wait to pass on to you! Andi is currently a Level 4 CHA Riding Instructor.
Adam, a native of Massachusetts, relocated to the Triangle area with the fan favorite Appaloosa mare, Starbuck, toward the end of 2013. Earlier that year, he graduated from Salem State University with a bachelor of science degree in biology with a focus in animal science. He monitors and maintains the health of the horses, dairy goat herd, and manages a menagerie of exotic critters as well (birds, reptiles, and small mammals).
Adam works diligently for the Ride the Sky community. He loves teaching our students everything he knows about animals (not just horses!) and delivers a great lesson to young students and adults alike. Adam takes pride in learning more every day through his own training and is excited to pass it along to his students.
Laney started riding when she was 7 years old. She grew up in Cincinnati Ohio where she leased and showed OTTB’s. She started her riding career in the hunter/jumper discipline but as she advanced started to focus more on jumpers. Through high school she showed on an IEA team that helped her love for the sport grow. She graduated from Ohio University in 2019. Through her time at OU she was an active member of their IHSA team. Being a member of OUET made it clear to her that she wanted a lifelong equestrian career. The summer of her junior year she had an opportunity to be a working student at Ride The Sky Stables. This made her fall in love with training young horses and teaching young riders. She is now excited to share her experiences and passion with her students to help them grow into well rounded equestrians.
Sharon grew up in South Carolina where she fell in love with horses the moment she hopped onto the back of a sturdy old trail horse at the age of 6. She then went on to ride and compete in the hunter ring for years until college. After pursuing her bachelor's and dental degree at UNC, she returned to pursue her lifelong passion of horseback riding and was Andi's first lesson taught at Ride The Sky Stables.
Ever since, she has gained incredible amounts of experience working with Andi on dressage, jumping, bitless riding, and training greenies. Sharon works closely with each student to help establish and achieve their unique individual goals - while having fun, of course! When not passing on her love of horses to her students, you can find her working with her OTTB Scarlett (the resident redhead mare) and playing fetch with her border collie pup, Ruby.
Erin is a graduate from the Vermont Technical College equine program. She moved down to NC in May 2018 in search of warmth and horses. She loves working with our ponies and goats (especially her sponsor goat, Finn). She can often be seen in company of her little chihuahua, Xena, and jumping around on her dun mare, Raven.
